Scope of Work
HPHS have been appointed to deliver the full mechanical services installation, covering heating, domestic water systems, plantroom infrastructure, and sanitaryware installation.
Working in collaboration with the main contractor and wider project team, our scope focuses on delivering a high-performance, energy-efficient, and reliable building services solution.
Heating & Plantroom Installation
At the heart of the development is a new below-ground plantroom, where we are installing a high-efficiency heating system, including:
- A cascade boiler system comprising 2 x Ideal Evomax 2 gas-fired boilers
- Low-height frame configuration and low loss header
- Fully integrated flue cascade system connected to the existing chimney
- Twin-wall insulated stainless steel flue with condensate drainage
The system is supported by:
- Grundfos twin circulation pumps for heating and domestic hot water
- Plate heat exchanger for domestic hot water generation
- Expansion vessels, safety valves, air separation, and water treatment equipment
This setup ensures efficient heat distribution, system resilience, and long-term reliability.
Pipework & Distribution
The building will benefit from a modern pipework infrastructure, including:
- Heavy-grade pipework within the plantroom
- MLCP pre-insulated pipework distributed throughout ceiling voids and stud walls
- Full heating distribution network with isolation and drain points
All systems are designed to maximise efficiency while maintaining ease of maintenance.
Gas & Controls Installation
Our works include a complete gas installation from the existing meter, featuring:
- Isolation valves, solenoid safety systems, and gas monitoring
- Fully compliant gas pipework installation (finished in yellow ochre)
The heating system will be controlled via an integrated controls package, including:
- Motorised valves, sensors, and thermostats
- Fire safety interlocks
- Central control panel with run/fault indication and manual override capability
Heat Emitters
To suit the school environment, we are installing:
- Low Surface Temperature (LST) radiators
- Thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) and lockshield valves
These provide safe, controlled heating ideal for educational settings.
Domestic Water Services
HPHS are delivering the full domestic hot and cold water systems, including:
- Pipework to toilets, showers, kitchen, science rooms, and wash areas
- Secondary hot water return system across multiple floors
- Plate heat exchanger system for efficient hot water generation
Sanitaryware Installation
We are installing all sanitaryware across the facility, including:
- WCs, wash basins, and accessible facilities
- Shower trays, enclosures, and thermostatic bar showers
- Provision for:
- Science sinks
- Kitchen sinks
- Corridor wash stations
All installations are designed with durability, hygiene, and usability in mind.
Soil & Waste Systems
The project includes:
- Installation of new plastic soil stacks
- Stub stacks and full waste connections
- Integration with all sanitary systems throughout the building
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
To ensure the highest standards of performance and compliance, all systems will undergo:
- Full system flushing, cleaning, and inhibitor dosing
- Pressure testing and gas commissioning
- Manufacturer-led boiler commissioning
- Water services testing and balancing
Upon completion, HPHS will provide:
- As-fitted drawings (A3)
- Operation & Maintenance manuals
- Full test and commissioning certification
Delivering for the Future
This project highlights HPHS’s capability to deliver complex commercial installations both as Principal Contractor but also in partnership with leading contractors.
We are proud to contribute to a development that will provide a safe, inclusive, and purpose-built learning environment for years to come.
